We have a unique moment in Illinois to advance reforms that will blunt the influence of corporate money in politics and help more citizen get registered to vote. New public financing legislation will be introduced in Cook County and the Illinois Senate unanimously passed SB1933, moving the state one step closer to Automatic Voter Registration (AVR). SB1933 is a revamped AVR proposal that incorporates changes pushed by Rauner after he vetoed a similar bill in 2016.

ACTION: We need to mobilize members in specific districts to make sure AVR passes the House and is signed by Governor Rauner.

We are hosting a partners mobilizing call/webinar on Thursday, May 11 at 11am ET / 10am CT. RSVP to eorbuch@democracyinitiative.org.
